Each day, millions of people hit a few buttons on their phone and jump into a stranger’s car when it pulls up to their location. It’s become second nature for so many of us to use ride share apps like Uber and Lyft to get a ride to somewhere near or far.
But, even with so many people using ride share apps, there is still much we don’t know about how these services affect our lives.
One of the biggest gaps in knowledge is — what happens if there is an accident during an Uber or Lyft ride?
Most people don’t know what liability and dangers exist for riders or even drivers. Many interact with the service without really knowing what would happen if they’re injured in an Uber accident or during a Lyft ride.
To help people understand what’s at stake, Ralph the Lawyer visited NBC News Channel 8’s Daytime show to discuss what legal protections people have and don’t have as ride share drivers and passengers.
In this interview, Ralph explains:
- The liabilities for ride share passengers and drivers
- What happens if you are hit by a ride share driver
- What to do if you’re in an accident while riding in a ride share
- How to protect yourself if you are a driver
